SUBGENOMIC mRNA ACTIVE REPPLICATION TEST (SMART) with AlbaNYlabs, ALBANY, NY
April 2020 - Current
Assisting in the Development of the SMART COVID-19 Assay in Collaboration with Aanotech:
qRT-PCR assay that will be able to detect which patients are infectious for COVID-19 versus who are not.
Assisting in showing that subgenomic RNA can be used for detection for actively spreading Covid Patients.
Created an online data analysis site for easy input and data interpretation of SMART Assay results.
Development of SMART analysis software for bulk data analysis of SMART assay results.
SUBGENOMIC mRNA ACTIVE REPLICATION TEST (SMART) with Aanotech, Rensselaer, NY
Feburary 2020 - Current
Created a COVID-19 risk of worst outcome calculator to help in predicting who will have worse COVID-19 symptoms.

qRT-PCR analysis of BCL6 expression in AML, pre and post treatment.
Assisted in confirmation of data found in the process of the study.
Kawabata KC, Zong H, Meydan C, Wyman S, Wouters BJ, Sugita M, Goswami S, Albert M, Yip W, Roboz GJ, Chen Z. BCL6 maintains survival and self-renewal of primary human acute myeloid leukemia cells. Blood, The Journal of the American Society of Hematology. 2021 Feb 11;137(6):812-25.
Studied the affect the use of CART cells to target CLL-1 in Leukemia Stem Cells
Performed qRT-PCR on cell lines and Primary AML samples to detect CLL-1 presence
Correlated qRT-PCR results with the flow cytometry work done to confirm CART cells were effective at targeting CLL-1

Studying the use of Feraheme in Acute Myeloid Leukemia to understand the mechanism behind downregulation of the transmembrane protein Ferroportin and cause for Ferroptosis
Studying why Leukemia Stem Cells are Ferroportin low compared to normal Hematopoietic Stem Cells.
Performing qRT-PCR experiments correlating presence of Ferroportin in various cell lines and primary samples
Bioinformatical Analysis of Genomic, Proteomic, microRNA and Metabolomic data from various databases with R Statistical Analysis Coding Language and Python

June 2014 - June 2019
Studied the WNT pathway in Breast Cancer Stem Cells (CSCS) and its involved in augmentation of Metastasis in Breast Cancer
Observed the effects of the use of function blocking antibody (2F1) of the WNT pathway with in different treatment options in SCID and FvB mice.
Saw significant tumor reduction and decrease in metastasis in mice treated with Doxorubicin and function blocking antibody
Studied the process for intravasation for an “signature” that would be able to tell us which cells were able to enter the blood stream, and which were unable to
Understanding the process of intravasation and developing methods that will be able to prevent it
This study was the first study of its type to try to find specific genes and pathways that are involved in the intravasation process

Studied the use of personalized medicine in Lung Cancer patients with early detection techniques and improvements in treatment effectiveness.
Patients cell sample collected via Fine Needle Aspirate, and afterwards used a unique molecular diagnostic assay for cancer detection from as little as 50 cells which was not possible before.
With the method shown above, we were able to identify which patients would respond to a treatment.
